Welcome on the website of the BOOKS 21 project
Books 21 is a partnership a project within organisations from Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Greece and Galicia in Spain. Through this website we would like share with you our experience of organising living libraries in different settings and good practicies of projects in libraries involving local communities.

The “Living Treasures” Living Library in Galicia deserved a recognition by the Galician Professional Association of Social Educators in the 1st Contest of Social Education projects 'Memorial Toni Julia”!
5th partnership meeting in Athens
During the meeting in Greece we discovered various archives, as well living archives of Media dell' Arte our Greek partner. We shared experiences of living libraries organised by partners and evaluated the 2 years of cooperation.
4th partnership meeting in Santiago the Compostella
During the meeting in Galicia we had a chance to discover libraries and cultural institutions in Santiago and as well have outstanding chance to meet the Living Treasures from Vigo.
Nearly 500 teenagers comming from secondary schools in town met 11 Titles. Each of them a well of wisdom and memory living in Vigo who do remember how Vigo was 70 years ago or had had significant life experience: Living Treasures.
3rd partnership meeting in Berlin
Third partnership meeting took place in November. We visited libraries both in Berlin and Fürstenwalde. We could already exchange experiences of first living libraries which happened in Germany, Greece and Euroregion Nisa.
Living Library within Lernfest in Zittau
Czech - German - Polish living library took was organised in Euroregion Nisa by LOS, UNESCO Initiatives Centre and our German partner from Euroregion Nisa - Pontes Agency.
2nd partnership meeting in Liberec
Second partnership meeting was another opportunity to learn more about living libraries, share plans for future actions and get to know reality of Czech libraries. This time the temperature did supprise us as well, with more than +30 and strong storms.
Living Library within Sailors on the CitizenShip XXL
The very first living library organised within our partnership took place in May 2010 in Liberec, within the project: Sailors on CitizenShip - XXL fair (www.sailorstraining.eu). If you are interested on how was it and what did we learn out of it.
1st partnership meeting in Dobkow and Wroclaw in Poland
The first meeting within the partnership project: Books 21 was accompanied by lot of snow and very low temperatures, which did not disturb participants to get to know each other and to discover the reality of polish libraries.
